I think they got it fixed in early '97. What I am remembering may have
been happening more in late 95 early 96. It never really crashed, it
just really slowed down when every one started pulling their e-mail
right before dinner. Just like clockwork. I also don't know if faculty
and staff accessed a different node, but I do know as a student on dial
up that Showme was fine in October of 94 and the beginning of 95. Two
times a year things get kinked up. Start of Fall semester and start of
Winter semester. That's when every one gets a new computer and brings it
back to campus.

I do not remember it being bad in '97.  I was working at RQ at the time
and 
I was playing with HTML.
