I had a problem with Putty and SSH, where it would not connect to some
servers. It was the attempt interactive login being checked that caused
the problem. I would get the username and password prompt, and then it
would just die on me. I don't think this has any bearing on your issue,
but I thought I would throw that out there. Also, the report on the
problem said it was supposed to be fixed in BSD several years ago, but
the problem and solution worked with recent BSD installs. Very
strange...

Subject: [MLUG] Putty Vs. My Firewall
I am having the strangest problem.
We have an old HPUX box on campus that I am trying to setup access for
me outside our firewall.
I have not installed SSH on it as of yet so it is just running plain
telnet on port 23.
I can telnet in with Microsoft Telnet with no problems but when I use
PuTTY I get a "Network Error: Software Caused Connection Abort" error.

Anyone have any knowledge or suggestions on how to fix this problem?
Thanks,
Jerry
