I just discovered the pleasure of these shortcuts:

I normally use VNC and some of these things didn't used to work within
VNC, but the newest viewer allows me to go to "Options...", "Inputs" tab,
and select "Send special keys directly to server."
By the way, I'm using VNC Enterprise between a couple of PCs and I'm
liking it. I'm not sure that it's better than alternatives, but it works
well enough and it uses 128-bit AES for communications.
