i got their ssid correct, i saw that in the scans
the way i get the laptop online by gentoo script is
/etc/init.d/net.ath0 restart, and that file will execute
/etc/rc.d/rc.wireless to configure iwconfig then it will
move on and get an IP like it would for /etc/init.d/net.eth0 restart
but even manually executing /etc/rc.d/rc.wireless; dhcpcd ath0
or using dhclient ath0, it just didn't work.
