I've successfully used my Linux and XP laptop in the library. Have you 
been able to successfully use the wireless card under linux in a 
different setting? If so, maybe you are carrying over the different wep 
key. In general, the access to the library's wireless ap is unrestricted 
(at least that's what I seem to remember).

Why don't you give us the output of iwconfig for starters?
