Not that I know of.  I do not have to do anything special with my MDK 10.1 
setup.  When I boot up eth0 fails (no cord plugged in) and right after that 
wlan0 comes up.  I wrote a perl program that scans for the wireless and 
brings it up but before that I was doing it manually with MDK's ifup wlan0. 
This just sets the ESSID, WEP, ect and does a dhclient.
