You would probably want something with large colorful buttons to launch
the child's favorite programs and a big menu bar so the windows could be
handled easy. It has to seam very integrated and unbreakable.
I doubt a 2 year old would want to have to edit config files in /etc
with a shell.. :-)
I doubt you'd want them doing that either. :-)

You might check out XFCE...pretty lightweight and, for this purpose, one
of my bigger complaints would probably be a boon. It seems to lack a
cohesive "launcher" type button, so you have to set up the launchers you
want. Or there's always Afterstep, which I've heard many good things
about, but have never been able to really get into.
