This being the snort inline/ebtables thing I mentioned in my PS - nice!

That said - it didn't sound like what he was asking for? (I could very easily be
mistaken).

Bridging.

You can filter bridged packets too.  You don't even really need to
have ip addresses on the interfaces you are bridging.
