Then locate the source code for 'ls' (See coreutils at gnu.org), modify as you see fit to solve your problem, and make it available. Build it and they will come.

I can use find, xargs and grep with an alias in my .bashrc just fine,
so my itch is scratched.

On N-Type connectors:

I got some from Gateway Electronics here in STL. They're a big ham shop.

I've seen the Cantennas for sale at like $20. Not much for a lot of convenience.
