Just to point out... There are plenty of ISPs in existence (including
in Columbia) that charge for broadband service based on the monthly
transfer amount. This is, in fact, becoming increasingly more common
these days. If you connect to someone on such a plan, you would be
directly responsible for increasing their internet bill. So there is
the risk of very real financial loss being caused by riding someone
else's network.
I agree that they're foolish to leave an AP wide open, but you really
can't assume that you wouldn't be causing them problems by taking
advantage of that fact.
