Maybe this'll shed some light on the subject.
http://usatoday.jiwire.com/warchalking-legality.htm
Also, I read some articles on labeling the SSID in such a way as to
show that the AP is obviously open to the public. Some examples:
-usepolitely
-openAP
-freeinternet
-playnice
Sheesh! This is a slippery issue.
If I understand this correctly, it's not illegal for me to connect to
an open AP. However, it may be illegal (or should I say 'in violation
of the broadband provider's AUP') that the owner of that AP is sharing
his/her connection. Insights from the group?
Time for class.
Matt
