Hi Folks,

I'm getting into wireless in a major way. Built a Pringles (c)antenna
and hooked it up to my Mac. I was able to scoop Internet connectivity
from all over town from my roof. Most of the APs names were "linksys",
"d-link", and the like. It's scary to think that most of the passwords
on those APs are still the default. But I'm not going to go snooping.

Well, not much ;-)

I'm wanting to do away with my $45/month cable connection with a $2
can of Pringles and some coax. But I don't want to buy a wireless
router. I want to hook up a PCI wireless card to my Linux crapbox and
create an ad-hoc (p2p, whatever) network.

Question: Can you guys point me in the direction of a cheap (and I
mean mad cheap--I'm hella poor) PCI card? OR EVEN BETTER would you
want to trade for a Compaq PCMCIA wireless card? OR EVEN EVEN EVEN
BETTER, check out my list of stuff below and trade me for an old AP.

I'm always down for trading in general. Here's a short list of some
stuff I've got:

Compaq PCMCIA wireless card
2 Monitors
Dazzle Digital Video Creator (USB)
Compaq base station for most Compaq laptops (pre 2003)
CLEAN software licenses and software (Office, Flash, Word 2K, Win 95-2K, more)
Cold cathode light
USB laptop mouse
Tons o' fans
Graphics cards (AGP, PCI)
Sound cards (PCI, ISA)
Processors (PI, PII, AMD)
RAM
Yamaha drum machine (Christian Cepel may already have dibs on this)
V-drums with Alesis brain
2 practice guitar amplifiers
Novell Linux Technical Resource Kit (FREE! Yes! It sucks!)

Be sure to respond off-list.

Thanks folks!

Matt
