Bingo! Converted the png to jpg: it printed perfectly. I had heard of poor
MS support for png, but since it inserted and print-previewed fine, didn't
occur to me that could still be the problem. Funny that the png version
prints fine from Win4Lin/Win98 w/older version of Word (!). This must be
what they mean by "where do you want to go today?"
