Just thought I'd return to this for a second. I was just reading a bit in
"man tcsh" and I noticed the section "Completion and listing" and the
'complete' command in the REFERENCE section. It looks like tcsh does the
things described above that bash does. It would take a lot of work for
anyone to carefully go through both shells to figure out exactly how one
is superior to the other. People usually pick one and stick with it!
I have decided to try to learn bash. It might take a long time because I
am so busy with other work, but GNU programs have been very good to me in
the past and I expect bash to continue to improve.
