I must say that I've never understood the concept of Wiki, even after
installing and playing with TikiWiki. It's too abstract and
intellectual a concept for my small brain.
But today's article on /. about the validity of WikiPedia as an
authoritative reference led me to wonder the following.
What is to prevent some malicious script kiddie on a mindless joyride
from determining a good portion of the most useful/popular/used wiki
sites, determining their editing architecture, and unleashing some sort
of distributive (to bypass IP security that might be in place for the
prevention of too many edits from one editor in such and such a period
of time) attack to mess with their content and links?
Maybe my question is nonsense, as I don't really understand wiki, but I
thought I'd ask... At the very least I might then have a better
understanding of wiki.
