According to eZPublish, if you're running 3.4 or higher, it should work.
But there's lots of noise in the forums about it not working with 3.4,
and some mentions of patches you need to apply, even a mention that it
won't work with Apache 1.3.x, only 2.x... so your best bet is to search
the forums for a while, and see what you come up with.
Here are a few places to start:
http://ez.no/ez_publish/documentation/configuration/configuration/ez_pub
lish_running_on_a_cgi_version_of_php
http://ez.no/community/forum/install_configuration/3_4_php_as_cgi_removi
ng_index_php_url_part
Honestly, though, I don't think you're going to be happy running
eZPublish on a free PHP site. eZPublish is a real bear of a CMS, it can
do wonders on the right hardware, but in a shared hosting situation,
you'd be better off running something with a little smaller footprint.
Unless you're just looking to play around with eZPublish, I'd recommend
looking at Drupal (www.drupal.org).
