i think i am moving forward with a small asterisk pbx server set up for
a former employer. the hardware i've priced is pretty straight
forward. a low-end dell server, a wct100p t1 card from digium, 8 cisco
7902 ip phones and 2 cisco 7905g ip phones, the spa-1000 from sipura to
convert the analogue fax line into ip and the normal array of network
hardware (patch panel, switch, cable, plugs, face plates, rack, etc). i
have a full t1 coming into an adtran there.
interestingly enough, i am going to try to run the dell server as a sort
of hybrid box...it will serve as the asterisk pbx as well as the
centralized samba file server. since it doesn't need to do web or
email, i can keep it behind the firewall for protection.
i'll post a "journal" like following of my escapades in linux asterisk
pbx set up.
if anyone has gleamed any new insights into the less-than documented
world of asterisk through testing or configs, please let me know before
i embark on this foolish endeavor.
:)
cheers,
