Agreed, good review, Brent. Spot-on with my experience, too, though the
first mission isn't too terribly difficult to complete, if you give it
enough time.

I also agree, the game is creepy as hell. The flashlight swapping is
cool, but you have to get the hang of it, the game won't do it for you.
That's a nice detail.

Speaking of details, I find it difficult not to wander around like a
tourist, staring at everything.

If I had to come up with a one-sentence review, it would be: this is a
thinking man's (or woman's) Doom.

That's bare minimum. I first installed on my notebook last week, because
I was traveling, and wanted to play the game. The notebook is a 1.7GHz
Centrino, with a gig of RAM, and a 64MB Mobility Radeon 9000. This was
just barely enough to run the game (and on battery power, it was
unplayable). At home I've got it running on a 128MB MSI FX5600-VTDR128,
2.4 GHz P4, 1 gig RAM. Much better, though the video card is somewhere
between the low and medium end according to Tom's Hardware. Speaking of
Tom's, here's their recommendations for cards that work well with Doom
