According to what I have heard, Doom 3 will work just fine with a 64 mb
video card. Just be aware that you will be running the game with
virtually all video options disabled and a resolution of 640 X 480. I
have read that people have run this game on vid cards as old as the
GeForce 3.
As far as a 512 mb video card requirement, what is the source for that
info? I am getting a new computer in the next few days with the Intel
925 chipset and the NVidia 6800 Ultra PCI-Express. Doom 3 will be able
to run at max quality at roughly 40 frames/sec with that vid-card
according to info that I have read. The ATI X800, however doesn't do so
well (21 frames /sec for the X800 XT and 30 frames/sec for X800 Ultra).
Now if only NVidia would finally release the PCIE version of the 6800 so
I can actually get this darn computer and finally play this darn game
instead of reading other peoples experiences. :-)

That seems to be a lot memory for video card. Though if I manage to get
Doom 3 I don't have those powerful cards yet, hmm, may be I should give
a try with my radeon 9000, 64MB, does it at least work?

Ohh really, that's good to hear and exciting. On a big screen with
surround system, I guess that would be awesome.

Good for you, I shall join the arena soon. Thanks for your review.
