OK, but *that's* gotta be recent.  Fry's used to slay CompUSA on
pricing (in my San Diego experience) plus They Have Everything (tm). 
Also:

This is another point.  No one store (Fry's or anything else) by
itself creates the geek culture, but you only find Fry's, competitive
retail locations, and things like weekend shows in your better places.
 I guess the web has changed some things, but there's really nothing
like laying your hands on the motherboards (all 50 kinds) before you
buy. :-)

You must have too many social skills and/or don't look scary enough. 
I never had an issue with returns at Frys. :-)
