[MLUG] New Suse Firewall/Router

It took some maneuvering and holding my tongue just right, but I did manage to get Suse loaded and running on the PII 350 machine.  Surprisingly, it seems to be running faster and smoother than the Celeron 500 I've got RH9 on.  Of course, I left off KDE and went with basic GUI.

 

I've asked several questions over the last year pertaining to my RH firewall router and had a few suggestions that I should have done X first or Y first.  So, before I begin to lock this machine down, I thought I'd ask.  What and were do you recommend starting for building a firewall/router system?  Of course, since I'm still very novice in Linux, speaking slowly with small words (or exact commands) would be extremely helpful.
