I HAVE had it running on a 100 MHz and a 200MHz AND i have a P90 that i never quite got around to installing it on, but i know it runs on it I was just missing Compaq driver disks or something to get past the bios... my Debian box died a while back, well the motherboard and then the video card also fried, that was a PII 300 MHz. I have also gotten Linux to run on a 50Mhz and had some friends running it on 486s :) Just be careful with what packages you put on the slower the machines.

Slow machines would probably be okay with only FIrewall usage. I 'd almost suggest not even bothering with X and just doing it all in Terminal mode. But that's me...
