If you can make it work, I've heard great stories from Belkin, believe it or
not. Have a friend that is running a combo wired and wireless home network
(like 6 machines total). She purchased a Belkin network setup, which
included the router and NICs. She then bought a wireless router and
wireless NIC's. Supposedly, they would all be compatible with the "b" and
"g" protocol. Long story short, things didn't work just right between
everything, and Belkin sent her out 2 new routers (1 wireless, 1 wired) for
free to replace the two old ones. The routers were newer and higher dollar
versions than what she had originally purchased. That's just one good story
for you.

If you are looking strictly at Linksys and Netgear, I'd choose Linksys.
Have had nothing but good luck with them, while a netgear hub failed after
about a year. Just my two cents.

Subject: [MLUG] Linksys or Netgear... Opinions Please

I am looking for wireless router opinions.

I going to replacing my current DLink 802.11b router with a new 802.11G
router

Netgear WGT624 (version 2)
http://www.netgear.com/products/prod_details.php?prodID=214&view=
and the Linksys WRT54GS
http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=35&prid=610
are my final two choices because they both offer the speed boost 108 mbps
connection with the proper 802.11G card.

Also I am leaning more towards the Netgear because they claim to have the
longest broadcast range out of any wireless router (300 feet) where as
Linksys doesn't say how far theirs will broadcast.

Does anyone on this list have experience with either one of these routers?
If so, could you please give me your opinions of them?

Thanks
Adam
