I have just started my linux administration class and the book that was assigned came with RedHat 7.2. Nobody in the class could get X to work, so the teacher desided it was best just to use a newer version of RedHat. They have all installed RedHat 8.0 and have had no problems.
Now, maybe I have misunderstood, but isn't Linux suppose to be completely upgradeable once you have a distro (say, for instance, RedHat 7.2) installed? Or do you have to continually purchase/download a newer distro with hardware upgrades.
