Look carefully at the rankings. They correspond more or less to the most
popular site on the web. I think what Google is doing is indexing each
site based on how many times it's linked to with certain keywords -- and
since "http" shows up in every valid URL, Microsoft as (more or less) the
most linked-to site on the Internet naturally comes up first. :)
Paypal comes up first for "https" ... make sense. I was surprised to see
Alta Vista so high ... maybe it's just an abundance of old links from
when they were #1.
