You don't even need X if you don't need the GUI frontend. Just using rug
from the command line works just fine. The frontend can be nice for
newbies or just for visualizing what you are doing though. I've thought
of using Open Carpet to manage sharing my own projects but I haven't yet
gotten around to it.
