Mike,
Not sure how to swap out the hard drive and put it in the new machine.
Several years ago I wanted to change the root filesystem of the sun I was
working on...ie transfer it to a bigger hard drive....Here's the
instructions that I used.
NOTE: This was way back in the 2.6 days, so things might have changed.
