I guess I see this as the first step or a merger between Sun and
Microsoft. Sun's been badly beaten between Linux and Microsoft. This
gives Microsoft a gradual merging or a historically strong version of
Unix to gradually merge into Windows. At the same time it allows them to
gain their own Linux distro so they can hedge their bets.. consolidating
against their enemy while at the same time buying into the enemy camp.
I'd expect to see a future version of Windows going OSX and using a Unix
foundation.. but expect to see the upper level code portable to Linux
should Microsoft want to do so.
