Ah.  that's probably the operating system.  Are you comparing MSIE to
MSIE or firebird to firebird?  I think that firebird to firebird would
be a more accurate comparison since msie DLLs are probably already
loaded into memory on your windows machine.  Those dsos have to be
loaded from disk in the case of the Mac.  No matter how fast your disk
is, it's way slower than RAM.

There are other performance measurements. That's a pretty one-sided
metric you were using and may be skewed due to the aforementioned
information.
