Can I suggest whoever is the box admin takes a glance at:

The cron job is quite straightforward and you can then get an at a glance
list of who's using disk space.

Encourage folk to take a look and if they get three red dots it's time to
free some space. It's just a little nicer than using hard quotas - if folk
know that hard quotas will be introduced if folk aren't considerate it might
just help.

Given one user has already indicated they are freeing space a large amount
of space as  we speak, this might just help prevent more drastic measures.
It can be useful for someone to use several gigs of space if they want to
download ISOs overnight or something, but the quid pro quo is that folk have
to free space when they're done with it.

As an aside, I think it's unlikely anyone on MLUG has several gigs of ASCII
pr0n.
