I've got a system I'm going to look at converting from Winblows to Linux or OS X Server for a company. However, first I need to do a few things, and I'm stuck with windows for the time being. I've been looking for a GPL'd or free email system to replace the email system they're currently using, and I've found only one that looks remotely possible:
http://www.pmail.com/
Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on a similar system? Is there an easy webmail component (free) that works with IIS? This is all temporary until I can get the site rewritten to use either php or java. I'm leaning towards Java right now, as I can then cache in memory some of the system components (i.e. the contents system, some of the articles, etc.) and refresh them when an actual change occurs. Anyways, the company is using a fairly expensive email system right now, which includes imap, pop3, and a webmail component.
Anyone have any suggestions or should I go with the pegasus system, and do a custom email client. Another option is to create an alternate dns alias for webmail.company.com and mail.company.com and forward all email to a different actual "email" server running Linux or OS X.
Comments? Suggestions? Etc.?
Thanks!
Jason
