I'm gonna try it with that "update-menu -v" command
when I get home tonite.  As for your question, Suman,
yes, the mouse and taskbar work.  Aside from the sound
and the desktop icons everything works like normal. 
Also, can't find how to switch between gnome and kde. 
It used to be "switchdesk"
