Couldn't help but respond to the baiting :D... VMS is not dying any time
soon, as they're porting it to the Itanium platform (the Alpha line of
processors will be phased out). HP's committed to it, but you know how
things change in the IT world. Maybe the servers could use a memory or
CPU upgrade. Your admins should be able to get system stats and have HP
support help them with tuning, they could even do that in the meantime.
Hopefully whomever you get as consultants will at least suggest it.
Got to say that I was a happy camper when we moved file sharing and
email off our VMS servers. Let them do the heavy lifting.
