Um, unless it's because RedHat worked with Oracle, Veritas,
Alias|Wavefront, etc. to ensure that the enterprise version of their
distribution will run the big dog's software.  It's not cheap for
companies to certify their products for use on a wide variety of
operating systems.  That's why Maya runs on Red Hat Linux (TM), but not
on Ned's Own Linux version 0.0.11.

You also get the added assurance that the software will be supported for
more than a year or two (at most).

And last, but not least, you all need to remember something: they're a
company.  They need to make money to survive and compete.  That's a fact
of life in our economic system.  Fedora is still available for download,
and is actively maintained by both RedHat employees and community
contributors.  Changes made in Fedora will most likely roll back into
the enterprise RedHat.

I don't see how RH is proprietary crap.  You can still download the
SRPMs from their enterprise products.  Roll your own.  Remember, like
how it used to be?
