Also, there's a flag for limiting how long it waits for a DHCP reply. I think it's -e for dhclient, but I don't
remember what it is for dhcpcd (which I used when I was on Slackware).

You may have to do a bit of digging in init scripts, but this would allow you to still have it work if you plug
something into it later : )
