Not to worry. Programmers deal with databases in three ways. They write the DBMS, they write tools that call the DBMS, or they write tools to break the DBMS's security. Creating and maintaining the databases themselves isn't programming, it is querying and data management, so you can't develop bad programming habbits from it. :-)
