It can be useful to watch that in one window while watching the output 
in another. It can be easier to notice weird color changes (meaning a 
typo or some similar error) than tracing why your output is wrong. I 
don't really like editors that highlight (distracting and sometimes 
slow) but highlighting on demand like this is helpful.

A shame there isn't a universal way to make sourcecode highlight (and 
link) when listed from Apache regardless of the language used. It'd be 
pretty helpful for people looking at C, Perl, Python, etc code too. :)
