Yes, you are doing it the perferred way. It makes it easier to keep from
accidents and hacks by not using external variables in the global namespace.
I might suggest you notice that you can post source code as myfile.phps
(assuming your webserver is configured right) and it'll show the PHP
source nicely highlighted.
