Basically, that forces a rebot of the device. And it does work if
you're "hung". One previous version of Mac OS X plus an older
version of my wireless AP firmware reliably caused this
slow-down/halt to happen, and this was the short-term cure.
(Long-term cure was to upgrade the firmware.)
That said, I had ridiculously bad transfer times to campus last
night, while undergrads were breathing down my neck looking for
their lecture notes...
