In most cases it is a hardware problem. Usually, the interrupt is given by a
device to the CPU and the interrupt controller helps cpu to tell what device
has generated the interrupt, and for some reason if interrupt controller
doesnt know what device, it send an IRQ7 interrupt.
This could be probably due to some ISA, pci cards in your system. Try remove
them and reinsert properly;
Also a note of the APIC; Is your system via; some via has these problems.
Whatsoever if you think that is problem, then you can overcome it by enabling
the APIC; you should find APIC module by some googling.
But this interupt should not be stopping your system to shutdown in such a
manner. Remove the box and all isa cards, install the rh9 and then try to
keep in back your cards. This should work if that is the problem.
You mentioned tetex; hmm, that is a simple package and shouldnt be any
problem. Is that all time your installation stops while installing tetex?
