I concur with Michael. First try using the examine CD Media option at
the beginning of the graphical red hat install. That will tell you if
the CDs got burnt bad. If the machine is having errors or something like
that let us know. Usually when computers start doing things like what
you describe it seems to indicate hardware problems. Its usually known
that if you make a machine do a kernel compile and it fails that usually
indicates hardware problems because kernel compiling is a good stress
test. I've even had computers get flaky when I installed on machines
that had lots of bad disk sectors on the hard drive. Otherwise, Ive
installed Red Hat 9 on many computers and never ran into install
problems that werent hardware related.
