That's exactly why I spent some time working on an EE degree. I never
wanted a job in EE.. I just wanted to know how to (re)build my own
hardware. I was going to finish that and then get a degree in materials
science.. so I'd know the properties of all sorts of different materials
and how to work with them to make things like CPU's. I wanted to be able
to collect sand and dirt and whatever and process them all the way into
fully working machines.

Good thing I spent so much time playing with explosives. I'm sure I can
cobble together an Acme rocket to get me up to speed.

I guess that's what I meant by people that are afraid/uncomfortable
about challenging problems. Still I think they like the rare experience
of solving the problem.. ie patting themselves on the back.. getting
others to do the same.. etc.

Hrm. I like doing both. :)
(Random poser of the second.. how would a door securely dead bolted just
blow open with the bolt still thrown? My door next to me just did so..
but the bolt is still in 'closed' position and the lock is solid so it
shouldn't be easily forced open.. and nothing is on the other side
pushing.. weird.)
