It could be many things. Computers have literally billions of variables 
that could go wrong and most of them are sort of mysterious. It could be 
a software problem, a hardware problem, or a real world problem (ie the 
monitors to close together) or any combination thereof. Learning to work 
through all these things to get to the heart of the problems quickly is 
as much an art as a science.

Did you ever ask on the XFree86 mailing list as I suggested?

Do you have Java, Javascript, etc turned on? Try turning these features 
off and seeing how Mozilla handles things. Do you have any extra 
plugins? Try turning those off too. Then turn it all back on (if you 
want to) until it dies again. If one of them makes it start going wacko 
then you've found your villian. ;)
