Thanks, Michael, fixit finally got through, I did update. Somehow I got
kpackage running, actually deleteted a line in a file, didn't look like
the rest so I took it out??? was in dpkg config I think, I know should
have written it down.
I have right driver for printer now and bidirectional printing enabled.
Still doesn't work, I think my quest is getting printer to work under
every distro?:? ha ha
Knoppix is more unstable and tricky than red had but better than
mandrake and I'm not even sure I can boot into suse on here?? haven't
tried been running knoppix for days! I don't know I just like
knoppix?? or maybe it's debian??
Thanks,
Teresa

Just to state the obvious.. Knoppix installed to a hdd doesn't work to
well. I had to do a lot of manual repair work to get apt-get working
decently. Make sure you properly run update on it and keep working your
way through the errors.
