Possibly, especially if your not root or at least the db admin. But then
life is just a pain in the ass overall in cases your not the admin. Admins
of commercial hosts etc aren't nearly as helpful as Adam tends to be here.
If you are the admin though it's not hard to add transaction support etc.

Well there are always ways around such problems (often less than perfect)
and big db suites often have a lot of features that 99% of us don't need
so leaving some stuff out doesn't mean MySQL isn't good.. it just means
it's not 100% compatible with db XYZ. I mean I do most my text editing in
nano and like it way better than MS Office or even OpenOffice but
obviously it leaves out a lot of the features those programs have. As
always there are trade offs from any decision. Of course you always have a
few people that love product ABC so much that even if it isn't nearly the
same as product XYZ they'll try to get everyone to use it for that role
anyway. I think most of these people we call trolls (or the marketing
dept). Sometimes switching from big ass XYZ to smaller ABC is just a
matter of learning to think differently. Those are the people who really
can benefit from the cheaper, lighter program.
