A variable in the /etc/htdig/htdig.conf file will take care of the problem.
script_name: /list-archives/dosearch.php3
If you have a problem with "results next page" try
arg_separator.input = ";&" in the /etc/php.ini
It was there and commented out in my php.ini. The default is just "&"
