Maybe I should be more explicit. You need domain-name services. Many
providers don't like you to do your own hosting, so they frown at you
manipulating their DNS. For those cases, there is Hammernode and
Granitecanyon.
However, Register.com allows you to use their DNS through their web
interface, which I found more convenient than Granitecanyon.
So, you register your domain name. That record contains the info who the DNS
are. Now you need to set the DNS to link your domain name and your IP
address. If you want to go for a cheap registrar, look at HN and
Granitecanyon. Register combines both (and others as well, I guess...).
