I think we're all familiar with the "Quickboot" feature on newer computers. I was having a BSOD every time I rebooted that required me to go through windows boot options, but suggested adjusting the bios settings as an alternative solution. I did, and found nothing wrong, but figured I'd turn off quickboot to see if it was simply a bad boot that kept being reused (it was), but I noticed something. With quickboot off, bios took slightly longer detecting everything, but the rest of the boot was MUCH faster. Even after win2k booted up, its still running faster than I've had it run before. The only thing I can figure is that Quickboot doesn't free up all the ram it uses after its done.

Its a bios option (windows has its own quickboot), so I'm sure it would be worth looking at even if you're running Linux or BSD. This is a Gateway E-3400 (One of the PCs I use at work). I've not tried it on the dell in my office yet, but I'm curious if anyone knows more detail on this.
