There is an 128GB (base 2) limit in many controller cards.
http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/bios/sizeGB128-c.htm <-- a quick google
gave me this (outdated) page.
There seems to be a poorly documented bug in XP's NTFS that leads to
massive data corruption on partitions greater than 128GB too. None of
your Linux filesyatems will care.
I don't trust IDE hot-swap. In linux that's bleeding edge stuff.
Instead, how about USB or Firewire drives? Takes carse of space and
hot-swap at once.
When we moved our DVD burners to Firewire, the speed at which we could
burn DVDs improved by 3-400%. (This is compared to haveing the drives
attached to ithe internal IDE controller.)
I'm on a really laggy connection, so I'm sending thisa with typoes
intact.

Mark
