I just got screwed by my instructor on my exam. He
said that the installations used "old routers" and by
his standards, to take two subnets out. the all 0's
and the all 1's. I just got a 66% :( I was tested on
DNS, WINS, and two subnetting questions. the only
thing I missed were the two subnetting questions
because of RFC950. This does more than piss me off.
Who actually runs to RFC950 spec anymore???? I
learned 1812 in my CCNA class... correct me if I'm
wrong but if you had that much address space and
wasted it with some old router I believe that buying a
new router would be cheaper than paying for wasted
host numbers. which brings me on to the next question.
What version of IOS performed to RFC950 spec? If you
had a large enough company to warrant the use of
subnetting, I believe you would have updated your IOS
in the last 8 years.
The only reason I got a D is because of those two
questions. I aced the front side of the test. 40
points for the first half. 20 points for the
subnetting, 10 points a pop.
Is this fair game, am I the idiot?
Or do I just have a dick for an instructor?
Nate
